Or, both or your tanks.\u00a0 This is a question that we get asked all the time.\u00a0 Once you purchase your RV, you will quickly understand the importance of finding places\/methods to emptying your tanks.\u00a0 Of course, the easy way is to be hooked up to a campsite with sewage hookup.\u00a0 However, sometimes that is not possible.\u00a0 Pretty much, if you are staying anywhere besides a full hookup campsite, this is not an option.\u00a0 So what do you do?\u00a0 Our solution does cost some money for the initial items that you will need, but if you are planning on being in places with no hookups often, this is well worth the money you will put down.\u00a0 In order to Empty Your Black Tank Without Moving Your RV, you will need the following:<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:image {\"align\":\"center\",\"id\":7878,\"width\":180,\"height\":180,\"linkDestination\":\"media\"} --><\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/rvboondocker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/affiliate-2-graphic.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7878\" src=\"https:\/\/rvboondocker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/affiliate-2-graphic-1024x1024.png\" alt=\"this post contains affiliate links, thanks for your support\" width=\"180\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rvboondocker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/affiliate-2-graphic-1024x1024.png 1024w, https:\/\/rvboondocker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/affiliate-2-graphic-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/rvboondocker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/affiliate-2-graphic-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/rvboondocker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/affiliate-2-graphic-768x768.png 768w, https:\/\/rvboondocker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/affiliate-2-graphic-600x600.png 600w, https:\/\/rvboondocker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/affiliate-2-graphic-100x100.png 100w, https:\/\/rvboondocker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/affiliate-2-graphic.png 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 180px) 100vw, 180px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p><!-- \/wp:image --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:heading --><\/p>\n<h2>What you will need<\/h2>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:list {\"ordered\":true} --><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0<strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2JvNI0t\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A\u00a0Portable RV Waste Pump (macerator)\u00a0<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2Y6T9uZ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A tote tank<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>&#8211; size depends on how big your tanks are, but we use <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2Y6T9uZ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this one.<\/a><\/em><\/strong> It is a 45 Gallon tank.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2JuB0im\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A 45 degree CLEAR\u00a0hose adapter.<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2XNl3Ic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0<\/a><strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2XNl3Ic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A garden hose <\/a><\/em><\/strong>that meets the following, commercial grade, NO LONGER THAN 75 FEET (suggested 50 feet) and 3\/4 in diameter.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Some type of <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2XE50w8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">double female hose connector<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 It might come with your tote tank, but you can get them cheap <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2XE50w8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/rvboondocker.com\/product\/gilmour-7fhs7fh-double-female-swivel-brass-connector-3-4-inch-by-3-4-inch\/\">.<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Of course you will need your <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2JtKpH2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">standard sewer hose kit.<\/a><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 If you have an RV you probably have one, but <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2JtKpH2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>is the one I have.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2Y2AlN2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Disposable gloves<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>and <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2XKCZTw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hand sanitizer.<\/a><\/strong><\/em>\u00a0 I cannot stress this enough.\u00a0 Stock up on both of these.\u00a0 If you follow the guide below, you shouldn&#8217;t have any issues, but you never know.\u00a0 It is always better to be overly clean than not.<\/li>\n<li>You will need to find somewhere to dump.\u00a0 It is a key part if you want to empty your black tank without moving your RV. This is usually not hard, but a lot of RV parks don&#8217;t allow it unless you are camping there, or it costs a fee.\u00a0 I highly suggest that you call any park or station to verify before you proceed.\u00a0 you don&#8217;t want a 45 gallon tank full of human waste that you cannot empty.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:heading --><\/p>\n<h2>Once you have the supplies, this is how you empty your black tank without moving your RV:<\/h2>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:image {\"align\":\"right\",\"id\":216,\"className\":\"wp-image-216 size-medium\"} --><\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image wp-image-216 size-medium\">\n<figure class=\"alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"282\" class=\"wp-image-216\" src=\"https:\/\/rvboondocker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/tank-300x282.jpg\" alt=\"Empty Your Black Tank Without Moving Your RV\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rvboondocker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/tank-300x282.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rvboondocker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/tank-600x563.jpg 600w, https:\/\/rvboondocker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/tank.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<figcaption>Empty Your Black Tank Without Moving Your RV<\/figcaption>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p><!-- \/wp:image --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:list --><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Put on gloves.<\/li>\n<li>Set up the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2JvNI0t\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">macerator<\/a>.\u00a0 This is a pretty simple process that after you do it once, it will be easy after that.\u00a0 The <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2JvNI0t\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">macerator <\/a>I suggested above comes with full instructions.\u00a0 Basically, you need to attach it to a 12v battery.\u00a0 You can use your car or RV battery.<\/li>\n<li>Attach the 45 degree hose adapter to your sewer hookup and then attach your macertaor to the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2JuB0im\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">adapter<\/a>.\u00a0 The clear adapter will allow you to see the waste coming out. This is important because you need to know when there is nothing left coming out as it might burn up the motor of the macerator.\u00a0 The macerator should simply screw on about 1\/4 of a turn on to the sewer hookup.\u00a0 A sewer hookup typically looks like the picture above.\u00a0 It is usually located in the back of your RV.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:heading --><\/p>\n<h2><strong>DO NOT OPEN THE TANK VENTS YET<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:list --><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Attach the hose to the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2JvNI0t\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">macerator<\/a>.\u00a0 Be sure that you have a 3\/4 inch hose and that it does not go any longer than 50 feet and that it is not kinked in any way.\u00a0 I have found 75 feet can work, but 50 feet is the suggested length.\u00a0 Failure in doing so might cause extreme heat to your macerator and it could burn out the motor.<\/li>\n<li>Put your tote tank in the back of your truck or SUV.\u00a0 I suggest putting stops under the wheels so the tank does not move.\u00a0 Be sure not to skip this step.\u00a0 If you fill the tank without it being in your truck, it will be extremely heavy to pick up to transport afterwards.<\/li>\n<li>Attach the other end of the hose to the double female adapter, and then to the holding tanks hose attachment.\u00a0 Open the other top hose connector for ventilation.\u00a0 Be sure the one you open for ventilation is on top not on the bottom or side of the tank.<\/li>\n<li>Double check all of your connections.\u00a0 Everything should be tightly screwed in.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:heading --><\/p>\n<h2>Once everything is attached and you double check the connections:<\/h2>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:list --><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Open your grey tank vent and then turn the macerator on for about 10 seconds and then turn it off.\u00a0 Take a look at all connections to make sure nothing is leaking.\u00a0 If it is, be sure to fix it now.\u00a0 If you cannot fix it, do not continue.<\/li>\n<li>Once you are sure all the connections are good, open the black tank vent and turn the macerator back on.\u00a0 Now both vents are open.\u00a0 Let this run for about 10 seconds and then close the grey tank vent.\u00a0 Allow the black tank to empty, when you see nothing else coming from the black tank, close it, and re-open the grey tank.\u00a0 This way, you will clean out the black tank waste out of the macerator and the hose with the grey water.\u00a0 Be sure you are keeping an eye on the tank.\u00a0 It is helpful to have someone else watch the tank to make sure it doesn&#8217;t over fill.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:heading --><\/p>\n<h2>Next Steps<\/h2>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:list --><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Once the grey tank is empty, turn off the macerator, close the grey tank vent, and make sure grey and black are both closed now.<\/li>\n<li>Detach the hose and completely close the holding tank.<\/li>\n<li>Close the tank up and don&#8217;t forget the top that you opened for ventilation.<\/li>\n<li>Drive your tank to a dump station, and use your standard sewer hose kit to empty the tank just like you would normally do.<\/li>\n<li>Clean and sanitize your hands and the equipment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This is how you empty your black tank without moving your RV.\u00a0 Good luck!!\u00a0 I typically do this about once a week, so I have plenty of experience in doing it.\u00a0 So, let me know if you have any questions!\u00a0 You can contact me <a href=\"https:\/\/rvboondocker.com\/contact-us\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:heading --><\/p>\n<h2>Thanks for reading!\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/rvboondocker.com\/blog-2\/\">Click Here<\/a> to check out our other articles!<\/h2>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:heading --><\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/rvboondocker.com\/contact-us\/\">Contact Us!!<\/a><\/h2>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How do you empty your black tank without moving your RV?
